About East Maitland Specialist Surgeons

​East Maitland Specialist Medical Centre is a private facility offering a broad range of General Surgery, Laparoscopic and Endoscopic services. The practice is located on the New England Highway, East Maitland (lower Hunter Valley) in New South Wales.

General Surgery is a specialist medical field that deals with disease and abnormalities of body organs such as: oesophagus, stomach, small bowel, liver, pancreas, gall bladder, appendix, bile ducts, large bowel (colon), rectum and anus. Endocrine disorders also come under the expertise of General Surgeons (thyroid, parathyroid, adrenal). 

The other areas of General Surgery involve the skin, breast, soft tissues, venous disorders, hernias and trauma. A substantial component of General Surgery involves emergency surgery (bleeding, infections, perforations, obstructions) and trauma. General Surgical operations are performed in various ways: open (traditional surgery), laparoscopic (key hole), endoscopy and recently robotic surgery.
